Newark Juvenile Arrested Following Lumbrook Park Firearm Assault
On Thursday, September 24, 2026, at approximately 7:15 p.m., Newark Police responded to Lumbrook Park, 100 Woodlawn Avenue, for a report of a man with a firearm.
The investigation determined that three suspects became involved in an altercation with another group at the park. During the altercation, one of the suspects produced a handgun that had been concealed on his person and pointed it at two victims. This suspect then struck one of the victims in the face with the handgun, causing an injury.
The victims and witnesses described the handgun as having a distinctive pattern and coloration.
Through their investigation, Newark Police detectives identified a 15-year-old juvenile male, from Newark, as the suspect who had possessed the handgun during the incident. This suspect had already left the immediate area and was not taken into custody at the time of the incident.
On September 26, 2026, Newark Police detectives conducted a search warrant of the suspect’s residence as part of the investigation. During the search, detectives located two fully 3D-printed handguns, including one that matched the distinctive description of the firearm used during the crime. Detectives also located a 3D printer, firearm parts, and ammunition.
The 15-year-old male was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Assault Second Degree
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon – Firearm
- Aggravated Menacing – two counts
- Noncompliance With Conditions of Recognizance Bond
The suspect was arraigned via video by a Justice of the Peace Court 11 judge, received $27,000 cash bail, and was transported to the New Castle County Juvenile Detention Center.
The two other juvenile suspects involved in the incident have been identified, and warrants have been obtained for their arrests for misdemeanor charges related to this incident.
