Newark Police Arrest New Castle Man for Felony 3rd Offense DUI

On May 1, 2026, members of the Newark Police Department Street Crimes Unit were conducting proactive enforcement in the area of South College Avenue when they observed a vehicle exit a business parking lot.

Officers observed several motor vehicle violations and conducted a traffic stop. Upon contacting the driver, identified as Brandon Buckman, 38, of New Castle, Delaware, officers determined that Buckman was impaired.

Buckman was taken into custody without incident and charged with:

  • 3rd Offense – Driving a Vehicle Under the Influence of a Combination of Alcohol and Any Drug- Felony
  • Noncompliance with Conditions of Recognizance Bond or Conditions – Felony
  • Five traffic offenses

Buckman was arraigned through Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $15,504 cash bail.
