Philadelphia Man Charged After Selling Drugs to Undercover Officer

Following a one-month investigation, Newark Police have charged Wilman Meran Garcia, 40, of Philadelphia, with drug-related offenses.

During the course of the investigation, the Newark Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit obtained information that Meran Garcia was selling drugs in the Newark area.

In late September, 2023, an undercover Newark Police Officer bought heroin and fentanyl from Meran Garcia.  Following the purchase, Meran Garcia was stopped by other Newark officers and taken into custody without incident.

Meran Garcia was transported to Newark Police headquarters where he was charged with:

• Delivery of a Controlled Substance
• Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Tier 1 Quantity
• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
• Traffic offenses

Meran Garcia appeared before Justice of the Peace Court #11 by video and was ordered to be held in default of $7,500 secured bail. Meran Garcia was turned over to the custody of the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in Wilmington.
