The Newark Police Department will be joining agencies across the country to participate in National Faith & Blue Weekend from October 6 – 9, 2023.

In addition to the weekend events, Newark Police Department officers will be partnering with faith based organizations to do a “rolling tour” attending worship services at various Newark religious establishments to build bridges and relationships with these organizations.

The Newark Police will also be hosting a Faith and Blue Community Barbeque on October 8th from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm at Dickey Park located at 60 Madison Drive.  This event is open to everyone of all faiths from the community.  Our partner faith-based organizations will be attending the barbeque with their congregations to provide information regarding their groups and community resources that they provide.  Newark Police will provide food, music, ice cream, a bounce house for kids and additional entertainment for families and all ages.

If your place of worship would like to participate and partner with the Newark Police Department on this event, contact Lt. Greg D’Elia at gdelia@newark.de.us for more details.

About Faith & Blue:

Faith & Blue was launched to facilitate safer, stronger, more just and unified communities by directly enabling local partnerships among law enforcement professionals, residents, businesses and community groups through the connections of local faith-based organizations.  The initiative aims to re-calibrate police-community relations through solutions-focused, in-person, socially distanced and/or virtual activities that are organized jointly by faith-based or other community groups and law enforcement agencies.
