Residential Burglaries on Fir Court

The Newark Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division is investigating two daytime burglaries on Fir Court.

On August 29, 2023, at about 1325 hours, officers responded to a residence in the unit block of Fir Court for a report of a burglary in progress.  Upon arrival, no suspect was located in the residence.  An investigation at the scene determined that an unknown suspect gained entry into the residence by breaking a window.  Once inside, the suspect removed property and fled the residence.  A resident who was home at the time heard the suspect in the residence and called police, but did not confront the suspect.

While investigating the first burglary, officers located a neighboring residence that had also been burglarized.  An investigation determined that an unknown suspect entered the unsecured residence and removed property from within.

A K-9 track did not locate a suspect.

The Criminal Investigations Division developed a suspect described as a black male operating a motorized scooter.  A photo of the suspect can be found below.
