On August 25, 2023, at about 0022 hours, a plainclothes member of the Newark Police Department Street Crimes Unit observed a group of subjects standing on the sidewalk in the 100-block of East Main Street. The officer observed one of the subjects, later identified as Jyron Davis, 20, of Dover, placing a handgun in the waistband of his pants.
Officers contacted Davis and located a loaded handgun concealed in the waistband of his pants. Davis was taken into custody without incident. Davis was also found to be under the influence of alcohol.
Davis was transported to Newark Police headquarters where he was charged with Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, Possession of a Firearm Under the Influence and other alcohol offenses. Davis appeared before Justice of the Peace Court #11 by video and was released on $3,500 unsecured bail.
