Motor vehicle versus pedestrian crash – Christina Parkway (SR 4) west of South College Avenue (SR 896)

On February 19, 2022 at approximately 8:28 P.M. the Newark Police Department, along with AETNA Hose, Hook and Ladder, University of Delaware Police Department, University of Delaware Ambulance and New Castle County Paramedics responded to the area of Christina Parkway and Science Boulevard for reports of a pedestrian who had been struck by a motor vehicle

Upon the arrival of first responders, medical care was administered to the pedestrian, who was then transported to an area hospital for further treatment due to the extent of their injuries.

The Newark Police Department’s Traffic Response Unit responded to the scene to assume the investigation. Early investigation revealed that the pedestrian was struck by a motor vehicle in the eastbound lanes of Christina Parkway (SR 4) in the area of Science Boulevard. Investigation revealed that the pedestrian was wearing dark clothing, did not utilize a crosswalk and did not possess a light. The striking vehicle and its operator remained at the scene. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be a factor with the driver of the motor vehicle.
