Newark Man Wanted for Strangulation and Firearm Offenses

On August 30, 2019, at about 1100 hours, Newark Police were called to the 100-block of Madison Drive for a report of an assault.  The female victim reported that after having an argument with her boyfriend, Brandon Carter, she returned to her residence.  When she entered to her residence, which she shares with her boyfriend, he immediately placed his hand around her throat.  He pushed her to the ground and began to strangle her.  She was able to get away from him and fled the residence.

The victim further reported that earlier in the week, Carter had displayed a handgun to her and threatened her welfare.

On August 30, warrants for Carter’s arrest were issued by Justice of the Peace Court #2 charging Carter with various offenses, including:

  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
  • Strangulation
  • Aggravated Menacing
  • Terroristic Threatening

Brandon Carter is a black male, 25 years-of-age, 5’9″ and 160 pounds.  He is last known to reside in the 100-block of Madison Drive in Newark.  He may be armed with a handgun.
