Drug Investigation on East Park Place

On May 17, 2024, following a weeks-long investigation into drug sales, Newark police executed a search warrant at a residence in the 200-block of East Park Place.  During a search of the residence, police seized more than six pounds of marijuana, mushrooms, LSD, cocaine and Adderall.

Two residents of the house, Patrick Coyle, 20, of Weare, NH and EXPUNGED, were arrested.

Both suspects were transported to Newark Police headquarters where they were each charged with:

  • Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance in a Tier 3 Quantity
  • Possession of Controlled Substance in a Tier 3 Quantity
  • Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance (2 counts)
  • Possession of Controlled Substance in a Tier 1 Quantity (2 counts)
  • Conspiracy Second Degree
  • Possession of Adderall
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Possession of Cocaine (Smith only)

They appeared before Justice of the Peace Court #2 by video and were released on their own recognizance.

UPDATE #2 – Arrest – January, 2024 Newark High School Threat Incident

A federal grand jury in Baltimore has returned a superseding indictment charging Owen Jarboe, 18, of Hagerstown, MD and Evan Strauss, 26, of Moneta, VA with conspiracy, cyberstalking, interstate threatening communications, and threats to damage or destroy by means of fire and explosives.  The crimes will be prosecuted in federal court in the District of Maryland.

The arrest stems from a January, 2024 incident related to a shooting threat against a teacher and unnamed students at Newark High school, along with other crimes around the country between December, 2023 and January, 2024.
