On June 2, 2019, Newark residents Rashaon Lane, 20 and Nathaniel Smith, 18, were arrested for (2) counts of Theft (one felony and one misdemeanor) and one count of Conspiracy 2nd Degree after an investigation into thefts from a vehicle in the 100-block of Sypherd Drive. Both suspects appeared before a Justice of the Peace Court and were released on their own recognizance.


On May 22, between 0645 and 1238 hours, an unknown suspect entered an unlocked vehicle in the 100-block of Bent Lane and removed a purse containing credit cards and other items. Later that day, the credit cards were used at various stores at the Christiana Mall to make purchases.
The suspect who used the cards is described as a black male in his 40’s, about 6’0’’ tall, average build and a beard. He was wearing red-framed glasses, a distinctly colored hooded jacket, blue jeans, and Nike Retro 1 sneakers. Photos of the suspect are located below.
