Thanks to the staff at Doherty Funeral Homes for sending over some snacks and recognizing our officers during #nationalpoliceweek last week. We appreciate the support!
Last week, M/Cpl Smith was instrumental in saving some baby ducks stuck in a storm drain. They were successfully rescued and released.
Tomorrow, from 10 am - 2 pm, you can bring expired, unused and unwanted prescription and over-the-counter drugs to Newark PD at 220 S Main Street for safe disposal.
Today we say goodbye to our good friend, Carmen Wanamaker, who is leaving the City of Newark to pursue a new opportunity. Carmen, pictured here in the flower shirt, kept our building clean for the past 7+ years and did more than that - she greeted everyone with a bright smile and a positive attitude on a daily basis. We wish her all the best in her new position.
This week, during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, we take a moment to recognize the communications officers in our Newark 911 center.
Thanks to Pete and Ramsey Eisenhauer, along with all of the staff at Eisenhauer's Chesapeake Harley-Davidson, for their gracious donation of a new police motorcycle to the NPD Traffic Unit.
Our own M/Cpl Olicker, along with @udelpolice Cpl. Leary and @ncc_paramedics PFC Warrick and S/Sgt Haas, were all honored at a New Castle County awards ceremony yesterday for their lifesaving efforts involving a victim who was struck by a train last summer. Despite serious and extremely life threatening injuries, requiring officers to use the tourniquets they now carry on their belts, these officers and paramedics truly saved this victim's life. The victim was present at the emotional ceremony yesterday and received a standing ovation as he presented these true public safety professionals with their award.
Recently, our Animal Control Officer, Donna Vickers, responded to a cat that had been struck by a vehicle and then walked into a drainage pipe. Despite the temperature in the thirties, the numerous cobwebs and the standing water in the pipe, ACO Vickers crawled through the pipe to reach the cat. ACO Vickers then took the cat to get medical attention. ACO Vickers' efforts with this incident demonstrate the dedication that she has to her craft and her love of animals.
We traveled to Pennsylvania again to attend the funeral of Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Branden Sisca. PSP continues to be in our thoughts. #pastatepolice #fallenofficer #lawenforcement
Members of Newark PD traveled to Levittown, PA today and joined other members of law enforcement attending the funeral for fallen Pennsylvania State Trooper Martin Mack. Our thoughts are with Trooper Mack and Trooper Sisca's families and with the entire Pennsylvania State Police.
