UPDATE #2 – Serious Crash on Christina Parkway

On June 10, 2020, at about 1323 hours, a 30 year-old male was operating a Honda motorcycle westbound on Christina Parkway approaching the intersection with Science Boulevard.  A 39 year-old male from St. Louis, Missouri was operating a 2015 tractor trailer eastbound on Christina Parkway.  Both vehicles had a green light.  The tractor trailer turned left in front of the motorcycle.  The motorcycle operator attempted to stop before hitting the tractor trailer and the operator was ejected from the motorcycle.  The rear of the tractor trailer subsequently drove over the motorcycle operator.

The motorcycle operator, who was wearing a helmet, suffered serious injuries and was treated at the scene by EMTs from the Aetna Hose Hook and Ladder Company of Newark and paramedics from New Castle County EMS.  The operator was transported to an area hospital by a Delaware State Police helicopter.

The tractor trailer operator was charged with Failure to Yield on a Left Turn and was issued a summons at the scene and released.

The roadway was closed for about one hour for investigation and clean-up.
