Newark Police Arrest Elkton Man For Firearm and Drug Related Charges

On October 3, 2026, at approximately 4:56 pm, members of the Newark Police Department Street Crimes Unit stopped a car near S. College Ave at Old Chestnut Hill Rd after observing a traffic violation.

During the stop, officers contacted a passenger in the vehicle, Isaiah Brown, 28, of Elkton, MD.    A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the location and recovery of a 9mm handgun with no serial number, approximately 72.5 grams of cocaine and crack cocaine, and a small quantity of marijuana.

Brown was charged with:

  • Possession of a Large Capacity Magazine During the Commission of a Felony
  • Possession of an Assault Weapon
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
  • Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance (Cocaine) in a Tier 3 Quantity
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance (Cocaine) in a Tier 3 Quantity
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon – Firearm
  • Consumption of Marijuana in a Motor Vehicle
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Brown was arraigned by a Justice of the Peace Court # 7 judge and was issued $140,200.00 cash bail and was transported to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of bail.
