Traffic Alert – Winterfest and Reindeer Run

On Friday, December 5, 2025, the City of Newark’s Winterfest and the Special Olympics Delaware Reindeer Run will take place on Academy Street, south of East Main Street. Academy Street will be closed between East Main Street and East Delaware Avenue starting at 4:00 PM and will not reopen until after 9:00 PM. Motorists may experience intermittent stoppages at some intersections in the area of South Chapel Street, East Park Place, Academy Street and the surrounding neighborhoods to allow runners & walkers to safely pass through the intersections. Please drive safely and utilize caution in the area.
