Wilmington Woman Charged With Carrying Concealed Handgun

On July 24, 2024, at about 1603 hours, a Newark police officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic offense on East Chestnut Hill Road. While speaking with the driver, the officer determined there was a handgun in the vehicle. The driver was taken into custody without incident. During a search of the vehicle, a handgun was found concealed under the driver’s seat.

The driver was identified as Summerit Davis, 26, of Wilmington.

Davis was transported to Newark Police headquarters where she was charged with Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Firearm) and traffic offenses. Davis appeared before Justice of the Peace Court #2 by video and was released on $2,600 unsecured bail.
