Georgia Woman Sought for Cruelty to an Animal

On April 29, 2023, at about 1508 hours, Newark Police responded to an apartment in the 100-block of Thorn Lane for a report of an injured dog.

An investigation determined that on April 28, the apartment resident left a friend in charge of their Yorkie dog while the resident was out of the apartment.  When the resident returned, the resident found the dog was acting strange, walking oddly and had a bruise on its body.  The dog was taken to a veterinarian where the dog was found to have suffered from severe injuries.

The investigation further found video that the friend left in charge, identified as Syniah Percell, 25, of Marietta, GA, had abused the dog while it was under her control.

On April 29, an arrest warrant was issued by Justice of the Peace Court #11 charging Percell with one count of felony Cruelty to Animals.

Anyone with information about this incident, or Percell’s location, is asked to contact Cpl D. Faulk at (302) 366-7100 x. 3492 or  Additional methods for providing information to Newark Police can be found on our tips page, where reward information may also be available.
