Philadelphia Man Charged With Multiple Drug Offenses

On November 14, 2022, Newark Police were contacted by the management of the Spring Hill Suites, located in the 400-block of Ogletown Road,  after hotel management located drugs and drug paraphernalia in a room in the hotel.  Newark Police obtained a search warrant for the room and located nearly two pounds of methamphetamine, more than 200 units of MDMA (ecstasy), other prescription medications and drug paraphernalia.

The resident of the room, who had been contacted by Newark Police in the lobby of the hotel earlier that morning due to a medical condition, was taken into custody after his release from an area hospital.

The resident of the room was identified as Brian Bernardo, 43, of Philadelphia, PA.

Bernardo was transported to Newark Police headquarters where he was charged with:

• Possession with Intent to Deliver Drugs (3 counts)
• Possession of a Prescription Drug Without a Prescription
• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Bernardo appeared before Justice of the Peace Court #2 by video and was released on his own recognizance.
