Multiple Juveniles Arrested Following Newark High School Fight

On March 1, 2022, at about 1410 hours, Newark Police School Resource Officers were monitoring dismissal at Newark High School.  At that time, a fight broke out among students.  As the officers attempted to break-up the fight, additional fights broke out in the same area.  The officers called for assistance and ultimately about a dozen Newark Police Officers responded to assist.  Officers, with the assistance of school staff, were able to break-up the fights.

Officers arrested six students, ages 14-17, who were all transported to Newark Police headquarters.  They were each charged with resisting arrest and/or disorderly conduct.  All of the defendants were released to a parent to appear in Family Court at a later date.

No one was injured during this incident and no weapons were involved.

School Resource Officers are continuing to investigate the incident to determine if additional arrests are warranted.
