On October 26, 2021, a female victim reported an assault that occurred earlier that morning at a hotel in the 1100 block of South College Avenue. The victim reported that Jamel Chapman, 41, of Wilmington, assaulted her while they were staying in a hotel room. Chapman is known to the victim. The victim reported that during an argument, Chapman punched her in the face repeatedly and choked her to unconsciousness. He then placed a razor blade to her throat, causing a small laceration. The victim did not require medical attention.
Chapman fled the hotel prior to police arrival.
Chapman is a black male, 5’10”, 155 lbs and bald.
A warrant has been issued charging Chapman with Assault Second Degree, Aggravated Menacing, Strangulation and additional offenses.
