Congratulations to Cpl. Rob Sharpe, who retired yesterday after a 20-year career with Newark PD. A K-9 handler for a significant portion of his career, Rob will be missed. We wish him all the best for a happy and healthy retirement. He is pictured on the far left with the other Newark PD members of his academy class.⠀
Thanks again to the Knights of Columbus St. Michael Council #4548 for their continued support of Newark PD. For many years, this group has sponsored our Officer of the Quarter program. The pizza they sent over today for all of our employees is appreciated.

Interested in what we do? Apply for our next Citizens' Police Academy which runs for 8 Thursdays from 6 - 9 pm starting on 9/23. Learn firsthand the various duties and responsibilities of a police officer. Hear from various special units, go to the firearms range, participate in a ride-along and much more. We've received a new #PoliceAthleticLeague equipment trailer. The trailer is supplied with equipment, games, and other items to assist the Newark Police Department Special Operations Unit with its youth outreach efforts.⠀
On Saturday, officers joined together with New Heart Ministries and Newark PAL for a community outreach event in the Alder Creek community. Food boxes and ice cream were provided to kids in the neighborhood. Officers played basketball and other games with the kids, while also letting them test out the Police Athletic League’s radio controlled cars and aerial drone toys.⠀
Members of Newark PD participated as both runners and motor escorts in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run benefitting @specialolympicsde.
