Wilmington Woman Charged with Fifth Offense DUI Following Crash

On January 31, 2020, at about 1243 hours, Newark Police responded to a crash at the intersection of Elkton Road and O’Daniel Avenue.  The responding officer found that a Toyota Matrix, operated by Colleen Dougherty, 54, of Wilmington, failed to yield to an oncoming vehicle while turning from Elkton Road to O’Daniel Avenue.  The operator of the other vehicle, a Dodge Caravan, was transported to an area hospital by EMS for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.

The investigation at the scene involving Dougherty revealed signs consistent with impairment and Dougherty was arrested for DUI.

Dougherty was transported to Newark Police headquarters where she was charged with Fifth Offense Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and Failure to Yield on a Left Turn.  Dougherty was released on $1000 unsecured bail.
