Following a nearly two month long investigation, Newark Police have arrested two men for their involvement in multiple burglaries, thefts of property and motor vehicles and subsequent unlawful use of payment cards. In late October, 2019, warrants were approved charging each with multiple offenses as listed below. Stolen property was sold to a retailer and stolen credit cards were used to buy merchandise. The suspects were identified based on surveillance video and other investigative means.
On October, 25, 2019, they were taken into custody after they were stopped on an unrelated incident at the Christiana Mall.
They were each charged with the following offenses for the stated incidents:
Dahmir Lewis, 21, of Newark, was charged with 17 offenses as follows:
Burglary of a residence in the unit block of Benny Street between 09/19/19 and 09/20/19

Lewis appeared before Justice of the Peace Court #2 by video and was ordered to be held in default of $34,000 cash bail. Lewis was turned over to the custody of the Howard R Young Correctional Institution in Wilmington.

Stephan Lloyd Jr., 23, of Middletown, was charged with 25 offenses as follows:

Lloyd appeared before Justice of the Peace Court #2 by video and was ordered to be held in default of $45,000 secured bail. Lloyd was turned over to the custody of the Howard R Young Correctional Institution in Wilmington.
