The following are cases of interest handled by the Newark Police Department between February 18th and February 24th, 2019:
Burglary:
- Between December 19 and December 20, 2018, a person entered an office at a construction site located in the 100 block of South Main Street and removed various construction materials. Detectives obtained surveillance video identifying a suspect vehicle that was linked to Duwon Miller, 36, of New Castle, Delaware. On February 22, 2019, Miller was taken into custody and charged with Burglary Third Degree, Theft over $1500 and Conspiracy Second Degree. He appeared before Justice of the Peace Court #02 in Rehoboth Beach and was released on $7000 unsecured bail. No photo is available.
Thefts from Vehicles:
- February 22, 2019 during the overnight hours in the 200 block of Dallas Avenue – Victim stated that an unknown suspect stole multiple items from her vehicle during the overnight hours. The vehicle was possibly left unsecured and there was no damage to the vehicle.
- February 24, 2019 between 2000 hours and 2010 hours in the 200 block of Beverly Road – Victim stated that an unknown suspect entered his vehicle and removed property. The victim found that his trunk was open, the driver side door was ajar, and the right rear passenger side window was broken. It appeared the suspect attempted to break the front passenger side window and failed. The vehicle had been parked on the street in front of the apartment building.
