Traffic Alert – Fourth of July Fireworks
Newark’s Liberty Day and Fourth of July Fireworks display will begin at 6:00 pm on Thursday July Fourth. Fireworks will begin at dusk, usually between 9:15 – 9:30 pm. The event will impact traffic on South College Avenue (SR 896), East Chestnut Hill Road (SR 4) and Library Avenue (SR 72). Heavy traffic is anticipated both before and after the event.
The rain date is July Fifth.
Reminder: No parking is permitted in the median or shoulder of roadways surrounding the event.
2023 Annual Report Released
The Newark Police Department is proud to release its 2023 Annual Report to the public. The report highlights the accomplishments of the various divisions and units of the Department and provides various crime statistics from 2023. Included in the crime statistics are a 10% reduction in Group A crimes against persons and a 17% reduction in Group A crimes against property.
The report also highlights special events in which officers participated, award recipients from 2023 and notable personnel changes, including new hires and retirements.
