Newark Police have charged Shane Randall, 28 of Philadelphia, with offenses related to this incident. Randall was identified as a suspect after forensic evidence linked him to the incident. The vehicle has been recovered.
On February 21, 2023, Randall turned himself in to Newark Police and was charged with the following offenses:
Randall appeared before Justice of the Peace Court #2 by video and was ordered to be held in default of $104,000 cash bail. Randall was turned over to the custody of the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in Wilmington.

On February 16, 2023, at about 1149 hours, Newark Police responded to the 300-block of Socom Court for a report of a residential burglary that just occurred. Responding officers determined that the resident heard their dog barking and went to the first floor in investigate. The resident observed an unknown white male suspect, 20-30 years of age, enter into the residence from the attached garage. When the suspect made eye contact with the resident, he turned and fled the residence.
Officers found evidence of forced entry to the residence. The victim determined that personal property was stolen from the residence. The victim was not injured and no weapons were displayed.
