Pursuant to an ongoing investigation into drug crimes in the Newark area, the Newark Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit became aware of drug offenses occurring at a residence in the unit block of Martindale Drive.
On December 3, 2024, Newark Police, with assistance from the Newport Police Department and the United States Postal Inspection Service, initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle Old Ogletown Road. Pursuant to a search warrant issued for the vehicle, officers recovered more than one pound of marijuana.
Officers continued the investigation and executed a search warrant on a residence in the unit block of Martindale Drive. During that search, more than 11 pounds of marijuana, along with various edible forms of marijuana, were located. Additionally, more than 30 grams of psilocybin mushrooms were located. The operator of the vehicle and resident of the Martindale Drive residence, Watson Kinsler, 20, was taken into custody without incident.
Kinsler was transported to Newark Police headquarters where he was charged with:
Kinsler appeared before Justice of the Peace Court #11 by video and was ordered to be held in default of $92,500 cash bail. Kinsler was turned over to the custody of the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in Wilmington.

On December 7, 2024, Roger Brown, 22, of Wilmington, was taken into custody by Wilmington Police when he was located in the City of Wilmington. He was formally charged with the following offenses:
Brown appeared before Justice of the Peace Court #11 by video and was ordered to be held in default of $67,800 cash bail. Brown was turned over to the custody of the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in Wilmington.
