Armed Robbery at Exxon on South College Avenue

On January 17, 2019, at 0358 hours, Newark Police were dispatched to the Exxon station at 820 South College Avenue for a report of a robbery.  The male clerk advised that a white male suspect entered the business and displayed a large knife to the employee while demanding money.  The clerk gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of United States currency and the suspect fled on foot onto Plymouth Drive.  The clerk was not injured during this incident.

A Newark Police canine unit responded to the scene and was not able to locate the suspect.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5’9″, thin build and wearing blue jeans and a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt.  The suspect was armed with a large kitchen knife.

There is no surveillance video available for release at this time.

Update #2 – Suspects Arrested – Bank Robbery on South College Avenue

On January 16, 2019, the United States Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Taskforce took Antwine Banks into custody in Camden, NJ for his role in the December 21, 2018 robbery of the Wells Fargo bank on South College Avenue.

In addition, Newark Detectives identified Victoria Williams, 30, of Perryville, MD as the driver of the vehicle in which Banks fled from this incident.  Warrants were issued for her arrest.  She was also taken into custody at the same time and will face Robbery and related charges.

Both Banks and Williams are being held in New Jersey pending their extradition to Delaware.  Photos will be available upon their formal arrest in Delaware.
