On February 19, 2019, the Newark Police held a ceremony to promote two officers and present awards to more than 30 officers and civilian employees, along with officers from other agencies and members of the public who made a difference over the past year.
The ceremony included remarks from City of Newark Mayor Polly Sierer, Newark Acting City Manager Thomas Coleman and Newark Police Chief Paul Tiernan. The Honorable Kathy Jennings, Delaware Attorney General, was the keynote speaker.

In addition, multiple officers from Newark Police, police officers from other agencies and civilians will all be recognized for various noteworthy acts over the past year. Some of these acts include life saving, noteworthy arrests and acts that made a difference in the community. Officers of the Year for 2018 will also be announced.
Mayor Polly Sierer, Acting City Manager Thomas Coleman and Chief Paul Tiernan will all provide welcoming remarks. Attorney General Kathy Jennings will be the keynote speaker.
