The fifth annual National Night Out will be held on Tuesday August 6, 2019 from 6 pm – 8 pm on Academy Street in Newark.
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes strong police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live and work. Together, we are making that happen.
From 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, neighbors throughout Newark and across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on their front porch lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and law enforcement.
The event provides a chance for the public to meet and interact with local first responders and to learn about what they do on a daily basis. Agencies will be showcasing some of their equipment and specialized units.

Food, drinks and snacks will be provided free of charge thanks to our local sponsor – Acme Markets.
Music will be provided by WXCY 103.7 FM.
The UD Creamery truck will be on site to sell their legendary locally made ice cream.
AAA Mid-Atlantic will be providing various safety tips and information.
Kids will love the games, face painting and balloon animals that will be available.

On July 10, 2019, at about 2100 hours, Taylor Reynolds turned himself in at Newark Police headquarters.
Reynolds was processed on a warrant for charges of Assault Second Degree and Strangulation. Reynolds appeared via video before Justice of the Peace Court #11 in New Castle and was released from Newark Police custody after posting $16,000 cash bail.
No information will be released relating to whether a statement was or was not made by the defendant.
