Update #2 – Arrest Made – Armed Robbery on East Delaware Avenue

After surveillance photos of the suspect in this incident were released to the public on 11/11/19, the Newark Police received multiple tips identifying the suspect as Joshua Nicholson, 18, of Newark.

On 11/12/19, an arrest warrant was issued.  Nicholson was taken into custody that evening at a Newark residence without incident.

Nicholson was transported to Newark Police Headquarters where he was charged with Robbery First Degree and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.  Nicholson appeared before Justice of the Peace Court #2 by video and was ordered to be held in default of $40,000 secured bail.  Nicholson was turned over to the custody of the Howard R Young Correctional Institution in Wilmington.

The Newark Police thank the public for their willingness to come forward and quickly assist the Newark Police in closing this case.

Camera Found in Bathroom on South College Avenue

On November 11, 2019, at 1515 hours, Newark Police were called to the Patterson Schwartz Office at 680 South College Avenue after the caller found a hidden camera in the bathroom.  The caller, who was an employee, advised that a camera was located concealed in a stall in the women’s bathroom.  The bathroom was in an area of the facility where the public has access during classes offered at the facility.  The device has been seized by Newark Police and does not appear to have been connected to any network or the internet.  Detectives are examining the device to determine what video may have been captured by the device.
