Newark Police Traffic Alert – Due to a crash on Nottingham Rd, the roadway is shut down from Old Casho Mill Rd through Panorama Dr.
Avoid the area and expect delays.

On Saturday, May 25, 2025, at approximately 6:15 p.m., Newark Police officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a residence located at the unit block of South Chapel Street. A caller contacted 911 after observing an unknown male entering the home.
Newark Police Department officers arrived and located the defendant in front of the residence. The defendant, identified as Darryl Dunlap, 65, of Long Island, New York, was taken into custody without incident.
During the investigation, officers discovered a broken window on the property, which appeared to have been shattered by the defendant using a mailbox as a striking object. Dunlap was found in possession of items belonging to the residents of the home.
Dunlap was charged with the following offenses:
Dunlap was arraigned before Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was issued a $6,100 secured bond, along with a no-contact order with the City of Newark. He was subsequently committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution.
