Newark Police Arrest New Jersey Woman for Attempted Burglary and Stalking

On January 16, 2026, at approximately 3:53 pm, officers responded to the 500 block of Winterthur Lane for a report of a burglary in progress.  Upon arrival, officers located and apprehended Dominque Johnson, 31, of Newark at the residence.  It was determined that she attempted to gain entry to the residence after banging on the door by throwing an outdoor statue through a window.

Further investigation revealed the incident was part of an ongoing stalking case involving the victims that had originated in another jurisdiction, where Johnson exhibited similar behavior.

Johnson was charged with the following offenses:

  • Attempted Burglary – 1st Degree
  • Stalking (2 counts)
  • Criminal Mischief

Johnson was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court #2 and received $20,000 cash bail.   She was transported to the Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution.
