Newark Police Arrest Wilmington Man with a Concealed Loaded Firearm

On November 2, 2025, at approximately 0040 hours, Newark Police officers were working collaboratively with agents from the Delaware Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Enforcement (DATE) to address large groups of individuals loitering along the sidewalk area of a shopping center located in the 200 block of East Main Street.

While dispersing the crowd, officers made contact with Ze’vion Ward ,18, of Wilmington, who was observed smoking marijuana in public. Upon further investigation, Ward was found to be in possession of a handgun equipped with an extended magazine containing seven rounds of .380 caliber ammunition. The firearm was concealed in Ward’s waistband.

Ward was taken into custody without incident and charged with the following offenses:

  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Firearm)
  • Consumption of Marijuana in a Public Area
  • Possession of Marijuana (Civil Violation)

Ward was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court #11 and issued $5,150 secured bail. He was subsequently committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution.
