The Newark Police Department is pleased to announce the graduation of Lieutenant Greg D’Elia from the 290th session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
The FBI National Academy provides coursework in intelligence theory, terrorism and terrorist mindsets, management science, law, behavioral science, law enforcement communication, and forensic science to law enforcement executives. Following a rigorous ten week academic program, Lieutenant D’Elia was honored at a ceremony held on June 6th. FBI Director Christopher Wray delivered remarks at the ceremony.
This National Academy class session was attended by law enforcement men and women from 46 states and the District of Columbia. The class also included members of law enforcement agencies from 24 countries, five military organizations, and six federal civilian organizations. Less than one percent of law enforcement officers worldwide attend this training.
Lieutenant D’Elia is the 19th officer from the Newark Police Department to graduate from the National Academy since its inception in 1935. Six of the current Newark Police Department Command Staff are graduates of the National Academy.
Lieutenant D’Elia is a 22-year veteran of the Newark Police Department and is currently the commander of the Patrol Division.
