On July 1, 2019, Detectives took William Stevenson, 30, of Middletown, into custody – without incident – at an apartment on Wharton Drive in Newark. Stevenson was transported to Newark Police Headquarters where he appeared by video before Justice of the Peace Court #2. He was charged with the following offenses:
- Attempted Burglary 2nd Degree (3 counts)
- Burglary 3rd Degree
- Theft
- Tampering with a Vehicle (2 counts)
- Criminal Trespass 3rd Degree (2 counts)
- Criminal Mischief (2 counts)
Stevenson was released on $22,002 unsecured bail.
